Doctoral student of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute Abdullayeva Umida Umidovna completed a scientific internship at the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University in November-December 2021.

St.Petersburg Pediatric University is the oldest pediatric university in the world. From the first day of its foundation to the present day, the main task of the university is the treatment and salvation of children. Today, the University is more than 60 departments, more than 15 thousand modern surgeries and almost 100 thousand satisfied, and most importantly, healthy babies from all over Russia a year. The university was founded on January 7, 1925, for many decades the university has been an international center for higher medical education.

The purpose of the scientific internship was mastering the knowledge of general and particular virology, as well as the principles of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious viral diseases, the formation of knowledge, skills and practical skills necessary to identify the leading syndromes and draw up an algorithm for differential diagnosis with other infectious and non-infectious diseases with a similar symptoms.

Achieved results during the internship:

• The clinical course of viral infections was studied depending on the genotypes of viruses and the course in different populations (Russian Federation, Uzbekistan)
• The skills of modern virological research were learned
• The effectiveness of conducting genetic virological studies has been studied
• The biodiversity and the most important properties of viruses, their role in human infectious pathology were studied.

Also, as part of the scientific internship, a visit was made to the simulation center of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, since today simulation technologies in medicine are an important and necessary component in the training of highly qualified medical personnel

All the knowledge and skills gained during the scientific internship are successfully implemented in the writing of scientific articles, guidelines and training programs.
